DP President embraces Chairman Mao for President in 2011
The DP President Hon. John Ssebaana Kizito has supported The Uganda Young Democrats' unanimous opposition to an unprincipled planned opposition parties coalition.UYD's consistent position is that DP's people centered philosophy and ideals can not be mortgaed to Conservative leaning Political parties in Uganda funded by the current ruling coalition in Sweden.

ARREST BY GOVT FORCES
On May 27th 2008, the constitutional Court of Uganda nullified a law that had been enacted by the ruling NRM government to make it mandatory for the opposition to first seek government’s permission before holding a political assembly or forming a procession in any public place. The learned Judges unanimously decided that this law represented a ban on the fundamental freedoms of assembly and association.

AUF/UYD campaign for IDPs resettlement
Uganda Young Democrats together with The Norwegian Labour Youth (AUF) have joined Gulu District Chairman Nobert Mao in his campaign to have all IDP people resettled in their original homes. This comes at a time when the Lord’s Resistance Army and the Government of Uganda are counting down to a peaceful end of an over two decades war which has affected the social infrastructure and generally the lives of the entire population in Northern Uganda.

UYD AQUIRES IUSY MEMBERSHIP
IUSY membership On the 26th of January 2008, UYD registered a landmark achievement at the IUSY World Congress held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic when the delegates approved the recommendations by the IUSY presidium to admit UYD as a full member of the International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY).
