DP MPs' leader applauds UYD-AUF joint Activities
The Uganda Young Democrats (UYD) through their longstanding partnership project with The Norwegian Labour Youth Organization (AUF) have embarked on an aggressive capacity building campaigning project aimed at teaching campaigning skills to the UYD Leaders all over the country.

On 24th October 2007, The Secretary General Samuel Muyizzi on behalf of the National leadership of UYD received a delegation from AUF comprising ; Silje Rygland, Asmund Aukrust, Torstein Solberg, Mari Varoy and Odin Bohmam.

Between 25th and 27th this delegation in company of Anja Riiser from the Norwegian centre for Democracy Support Organisation held several meetings with both Political and Civil Society Organisatins on both political and developmental issues. The AUF delegation then proceeded to Western Uganda for their partnership capacity building activities with leaders of UYD.

The partnership project for 2007 entitled campaigning started in the Eastern Region of the Country earlier this year under the theme Campaigning “The Planning Process”. Delegates from all corners of this region were taught skills and shared experience of how to plan a campaign, it is during the same activity that the UYD endorsed the candidature of Hon. Nobert Mao for party presidency of the Democratic Party.

Between 28-30th October 2007, the second part of the project activities entitled campaigning “The Implementation” was organized in the Western region of the country where youth leaders from all over the south and western part of the country converged in Bushenyi district to exchange ideas on how to implement a campaign. This activity was packaged with a lot of events and it unveiled a new approach to the gender disparity and marginalization problem in the country’s politics, the new approach involved having male participants group themselves to discuss how the challenges faced by female comrades can be overcome in as far as their active involvement and active participation at all leadership and division making levels is concerned.

The Chief Guest and key note presenter at the workshop Hon. Issa Kikungwe M.P, the leader of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group applauded the contribution of AUF to the building of democracy in Uganda and particularly in supporting democracy building institutions in the country, through political parties and organizations like UYD. The activity for the Western Region UYD leaders was very peaceful and successful. The UYD shall always remember the years before 2005 when police and state instigated paramilitary groups meted violence against us together with delegations from the AUF while in training workshops.

The UYD-AUF partnership projects since 2002 have built a lot of capacity among Ugandan Youth in the continued fight for human rights and good governance. As we continue sowing the seeds of Democracy.
