The Uganda Young Democrats (UYD) has identified and is fronting over 100 (one hundred) women leaders

through the UYD women league for democracy to stand for elective positions at both parliamentary and local levels throughout the country in the national general elections scheduled to take place next year.

This drive, was launched by Ms Brenda Nabukenya, the UYD national secretary for social welfare and DP national youth leader at the UYD headquarters on the 1st July 2010 to co-incide with the candidates assembly programme launched by the DP national organising secretary in Kampala recently.

At the same meeting Samuel Muyizzi, the UYD Secretary General assured all women leaders that the UYD is embarking on a project to source for assistance for women in this cause. He promised that there would be a women can do it project activity in partnership with the Norwegian Labour Party through the Norwegian Labour Youth (AUF) in the last week of July.
