UYD Women warm up for 2011 elections

On the 30th July 2010, for the UYD Women's league (UYDWL) all roads led to the magnificent Nexus Hotel in Nansana, Wakiso District for their interactive training as they gear up for the 2011 general elections. The training was closed on 2nd August 2010 with a certificates awarding ceremony.

The UYD Women's League have concluded their training which lasted for four days.The meeting was hosted at Hotel Nexus under the umbrella of ' Women Can Do it (WCDI) training'. Most participants were political leaders, and many are candidates for the forthcoming election in 2011.

The program included gender, women in politics, the situation within UYD/AUF, networking, working successfully with media, building confidence, communications technics, public speaking, argumentation, body language, representation and presentation of women in the society, women leaders in the struggle against HIV/AIDS, advocacy, campaigning, and how to train other women in the future.


The WCDI seminar is an exchange of experience, both between ugandan women, but also sharing experiences with the norwegian youth politicians.

The participants were from all over Uganda, and from different backgrounds. The capacity building was meant to strengthen and empower young women leaders. The seminar was sponsored by the Norwegian Labour Party.
